This four-day course helps you refine your technique while creating a post-and-rung stool with a woven seat. You will learn the basic aspects of traditional chair making in a supportive environment and leave with both a finished piece and a foundation for future independent woodworking. This course offers an opportunity to practice the foundation skills of green woodworking - riving, axing, and the drawknife. Lots of mortise and tenon joinery to practice as well. The woven seat will be made from locally harvested Cumbungi (bullrush). Each object you make is a step in your journey—a tangible record of progress and care. While this course is a natural progression from the Discover green woodworking course, there is no prerequisite experience necessary.
